A mum from Partington has been honoured with an MBE in this year's King’s New Years Honours for her dedicated work to children in hospitals.
Amanda Chadwick, 41, founded the charity, Pyjama Fairies, in 2014 after her new-born daughter Nevaeh Belle was diagnosed with congenital heart disease.
She made some pyjamas for her little girl which allowed her to keep warm and comfortable whilst doctors were able to carry out vital treatment and tests. From there, the charity was founded, and has recently passed the huge milestone of giving 50,000 pyjamas to children and babies in hospitals, free of charge.

“I had some experience in sewing and so made her some pyjamas that would accommodate all the wires and tubes.”
Amanda said other mums on the ward asked where she had got the pyjamas from, and in response, she made their children pyjamas too. She later met a woman in a fabric chatroom group on Facebook, who suggested they join forces to offer the garments and gowns out to others in a similar situation.
In 2015, Pyjama Fairies was born. Over the last 12 months, the charity has catered for 300 garments a month for hospital orders, and 1,500 garments a month for parent orders.
