Plans for a controversial new 1,050-home community on land north of Mosley Common in Wigan, following two rounds of public consultation.
The applications from Peel L&P include outline planning for a wider masterplan for the area and detailed plans for new homes at Twire at Mosley Common, the first phase of development. This development has been subject to strong objection from many locals - with a petition against it signed by 3,124 Wiganers. They wanted to see an investigation into whether there is a need to give up green belt land for more houses that are 'not needed' in their eyes.
However, this ended up in rejection from Wigan Council. Locals are also concerned about the impact this development would have on the road infrastructure - but Peel have suggested they’re looking into ways to address those concerns.
As part of the 1,050-home proposal,
