The organization behind the Peabody Awards said Thursday that its 2024 ceremony is set to take place on June 9 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, as the group once again attempts to hold its first-ever awards show in Los Angeles.
Previous attempts to move the Peabodys to L.A. were scotched first in 2020 thanks to the Covid pandemic and again last year owing to the uncertainty around the dual Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA strikes. If the 84th edition goes off as planned, it will mark the group’s first in-person ceremony since 2019.
The Peabodys, based at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia, annually honor stories that “powerfully reflect the pressing social issues and the vibrant emerging voices of our day” in the categories of entertainment, documentary, news, podcast/radio, arts, children’s and youth, immersive and interactive media, and public service programming.
Nominations will be announced in April and winners in May.
