‘Outer Range’ Renewed For Second Season By Prime Video; Charles Murray Takes Over As Showrunner

They’ve got these two kids [played by Logan Polish and Gabriel Bateman]. But they separated when the children were young, for a very good reason. We are going to say exactly what happened and why this family is on the run.” A Fremantle production for Apple TV+ – based on Paul Theroux’s novel and created by Neil Cross – it follows Allie Fox (Justin Theroux), who uproots his family to find refuge from the U.S. government, cartels and hitmen. Now, they will venture into the Guatemalan jungle to meet an old friend and her community of refugees.

Amazon Prime Video is to co-premiere The Handmaid’s Tale for the first time in the UK with Channel 4.

“Star Trek: Picard” premiered at New York Comic-Con ahead of its release on Paramount+ this coming February. Charles Murray, who is under an overall deal at Amazon Studios, is joining the series as showrunner after Season 1 was showrun by creator Brian Watkins. Watkins will continue executive producing. The Western sci-fi drama stars Josh Brolin as Royal Abbott, a rancher who is fighting to protect his family and discovers a mystery at the edge of Wyoming’s wilderness. The Abbotts are coping with the disappearance of daughter-in-law Rebecca (Kristen Connolly) and are pushed further to the brink when the Tillersons, the gaudy owners of the neighboring profit-driven ranch, make a play for their land. An untimely death in the community sets off a chain of events that come to a head with the arrival of a mysterious black void in the Abbotts’ west pasture. Imogen Poots, Lili Taylor, Tamara Podemski, Lewis Pullman, Tom Pelphrey, Noah Reid, Shaun Sipos, Isabel Arraiza, Olive Abercrombie and Will Patton also star.

Whew. Honestly, we were getting worried for a minute. But Amazon Studios has announced a second season for “Outer Range,” the sci-fi western that stars Josh Brolin, Lili Taylor and Imogen Poots.

Amazon Prime Video original series “The Lake” has added Lauren Holly, Jhaleil Swab and Max Amani for its second season, Variety can exclusively confirm. Holly (“Family Law”) is set to play Mimsy, “a free-wheeling muse” and mother to Julia Stiles’ character Maisy-May. Swab joins as Forrest, a “confident and charming tree planter with big Tigger energy” who gets into a love triangle with Madison Shamoun’s character Billie while Amani is set to play “driven, strong, fierce protector of the environment” Ivy. “The Lake” is centered on the story of Justin (played by “Orphan Black’s” Jordan Gavaris) who, after breaking up with his long term partner returns home with the hopes of rekindling his relationship with his adopted biological daughter Billie (Shamoun). But his homecoming isn’t all a bed of roses, especially when he finds out his sister Maisy-May (Stiles) has inherited the family lakehouse.

Anna Marie de la Fuente Principal photography is underway on police thriller “Memento Mori” from one of Spain’s biggest production shingles, Zebra Productions, part of Grupo iZen, which presented its upcoming series “Tenorio” at Iberseries’ Co-Production & Financing Forum on Sept. 28. Zebra produced “El Cid,” a meticulously accurate but grand-scale Prime Video series  “Tenorio” takes a deep dive into the life of iconic literary character Don Juan Tenorio to explore how he transformed into the legendary ‘Latin Lover’ of yore . “Memento Mori,” which has been shooting in the city of Valladolid, is based on a trilogy of novels by author César Pérez Gellida who hails from the town, said iZen’s Lara Lejarza.

Anna Marie de la Fuente Prime Video has greenlit Season 2 of the hit Spanish series, “Dias Mejores” (“Better Days”), after the success of its first season. Created by Cristóbal Garrido and Adolfo Valor (“Reyes de la Noche,” “Farina”), the new season will continue to follow the stories of its lead characters Sara (Marta Hazas), Pardo (Erick Elías), Graci (Alba Planas), Luis (Francesc Orella) and Dr. Laforet (Blanca Portillo). News was announced at the Iberseries & Platino Industria television event that was held in Madrid over Sept. 27-30. The co-production between ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) and Madrid-based Zeta Studios, producers of Netflix hit, “Elite,” will stream exclusively on Prime Video in Spain.

Quinta Brunson has some special surprises lined up for 's second season. ET's Deidre Behar spoke to the Emmy-winner at the  event Wednesday, where she talked season 2 and the guest stars set to make an appearance.«I think you can be excited about — some guest stars were announced, Leslie (Odom Jr.) Kayla (Monterroso Mejia), Lauren Weedman, who made her debut tonight, but there are also some other ones who people do not know about, and I am so excited for them,» Brunson shared.While Brunson couldn't say who those guest stars are, she did share that they are just as exciting as season 2's premiere episode cameo from Philadelphia Flyers mascot, Gritty.«I think they are people who are exciting to me, and obscure and odd and weird, and I can't wait for people to be surprised by them,» she teased.
