An obsessive schoolboy was caught with a "murder kit" to kill a girl. The 17-year-old stashed an airgun, shovel, wrench, duct tape and rope in a car as he hunted the 16-year-old in Moray last March.
The boy, who was fascinated with horror films, serial killers and bondage, was only halted when his own mum rumbled him. He said he "did not care about the consequences".
He pleaded guilty before the High Court in Glasgow to acting in a disorderly manner and having the weapons with intent to “assault and murder” her.
The boy, who is detained at St Mary’s secure unit in Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, will be sentenced at a later date. Neither child can be identified due to their ages.
The children had drifted apart but the boy was said to have developed an "unhealthy fixation" on her. In 2022, his mum contacted a psychologist due to his fascination in horror films and true crime.
A friend also noticed his "obsession" in killers and bondage photography. He spoke of “passing thoughts” of harming the girl but dismissed them.
On March 7, he suddenly appeared at her workplace only to find it was closed. Days later his murder plans were exposed. He took his mum out to the car and admitted he had been looking for the girl.
The woman initially contacted medics about her son’s "dark thoughts". The firearm, scope attachment and rope were then discovered. The case was adjourned for reports.
