Health chiefs have announced a change to Covid restrictions across their sites.
They say changes to Scottish Government guidance, as well as decreasing hospital admissions due to the virus, has led them to review the ongoing restrictions.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde bosses say that although they cannot yet remove all restrictions, they will move closer to pre-pandemic ways of working.
From tomorrow (May 23), the need for physical distancing will be removed from sites run by the board, except in cases where departments or clinical services cannot make the changes, such as in care homes, where signage will be displayed to notify visitors.
Hospital visiting will be reinstated throughout the NHS GGC estate, with a maximum of two interchangeable visitors at any one time in what the board bills as a "person-centred" approach.
Only high risk patients or wards with an active Covid outbreak will be excluded..
Commenting on the operational changes, NHS GGC's Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development, Anne MacPherson said; “We would like to thank all our staff for their ongoing commitment to their colleagues and patients throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope that these changes will be a positive step to support our staff in their day to day practice. Our staff and patient safety remains a priority, which is why although physical distancing will cease, we will continue to ask staff to wear appropriate face coverings while at work. "Our primary aim is to make sure that all of our staff are well supported during this time of transition and I am pleased that we have also been able to take steps towards enabling more of our staff to work flexibly through our Blended Working Guidance."
