NFL players taking a knee during the National Anthem and raising of the American flag has never got as much attention — and shifts in opinion — as it has in the past 48 hours. It started out when New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees in a June 3 interview said, “I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America” by kneeling.

He was labelled a controversial distraction by some league higher-ups after he began taking a knee during the National Anthem in his 2016 season with the San Francisco 49ers.

Fox News’ Laura Ingraham was none too pleased Wednesday night as she covered criticism of Saints quarterback Drew Brees on her primetime show. Brees was called out earlier in the day for saying he doesn’t support kneeling in protest during the national anthem because he sees it as disrespectful to the flag.

Drew Brees is apologizing for his comments about fellow NFL athletes who choose to kneel at games during the national anthem. The 41-year-old New Orleans Saints quarterback gave an interview to in which he was asked about players kneeling.

Drew Brees is being hit with backlash following his comments about the ongoing #BlackLivesMatter protests all over the world.

In the interview, Drew, 41, was asked if the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and other black men and women killed by the police would trigger another round of Colin Kaepernick-inspired national anthem protests.
