Donald Trump Screams “No Kneeling”, Slams Drew Brees Over QB Revising His Anti-Protest Stance After Outraged Blowback

Just a few days after Drew Brees came under fire for his comments about kneeling during the national anthem, his wife, Brittany Brees, took to Instagram to issue her own apology. "WE ARE THE PROBLEM," she wrote in part of a post shared to their Brees Dream Foundation account.

Drew Brees was engulfed in controversy last week when the New Orleans Saints quarterback gave an interview with Yahoo! and addressed Colin Kaepernick and other NFL players protesting police violence against African-Americans by kneeling during the national anthem prior to football games.

NFL players taking a knee during the National Anthem and raising of the American flag has never got as much attention — and shifts in opinion — as it has in the past 48 hours. It started out when New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees in a June 3 interview said, “I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America” by kneeling.

Twitter users think Donald Trump, 73, should be the one apologizing after the POTUS threw shade at Drew Brees‘ attempt to backtrack on his anti-kneeling comments. “I am a big fan of Drew Brees. I think he’s truly one of the greatest quarterbacks, but he should not have taken back his original stance on honoring our magnificent American Flag. LeBron James is calling out Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham for what some see as a double standard when it comes to her response to athletes sharing political opinions. James took to Twitter on Sunday to bring attention to Ingraham's support of recent political remarks by Drew Brees just a few years after she famously told James to «shut up and dribble» when he criticized Donald Trump.

In the interview, Drew, 41, was asked if the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and other black men and women killed by the police would trigger another round of Colin Kaepernick-inspired national anthem protests.

NFL quarterback Drew Brees can add one more fumble to his career total. The New Orleans Saints star is the latest public figure to spark backlash over his comments surrounding his beliefs on the National Anthem and the United States flag.  On Wednesday, Yahoo Finance interviewed Brees and asked him about his stance on the recent nationwide protests in response to George Floyd's death, who was killed by a Minneapolis police officer on Monday, May 25.
