The musical, which features additional lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and was directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman, opened to mixed-to-negative reviews at the St. James Theatre on April 26. Recent weeks have seen attendance at the St. James hovering around 70% of capacity.

The musical, based loosely on the 1977 Martin Scorsese film of the same name, stars Colton Ryan and Anna Uzele among its large cast.
Producers say discussions are underway for a North American tour.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is adapting a stage musical version of “The Warriors,” Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel. That book inspired a 1979 cult action thriller directed by Walter Hill that is even more widely known. Details for the project are still murky, but an individual with knowledge of Miranda’s plans confirmed his involvement.

Brent Lang Executive Editor Juliet Stevenson seems almost ashamed. There was a moment a few weeks ago when the boundaries between Ruth Wolff, the gifted but abrasive physician whose downfall drives the action of “The Doctor,” and Stevenson became too porous. “I crossed this line and didn’t know who I was,” Stevenson says on a recent afternoon at the Park Avenue Armory, where she has been performing in the play since June.

Zack Sharf Digital News Director While “Oppenheimer” has been touted as Christopher Nolan’s first biopic, that’s not necessarily true. It’s only the director’s first biopic to hit the big screen. Decades ago, Nolan wrote the screenplay for a biopic about aviator and business tycoon Howard Hughes, but the project never took flight because Martin Scorsese’s “The Aviator,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Hughes, beat him to it. Nolan told The Daily Beast in 2007 that his Hughes biopic was the best script he’d written, and he even lined up Jim Carrey to star as Hughes. Nolan said Hughes was the role that Carrey was “born to play.” Nolan’s Howard Hughes movie never materialized, but learning how to distill the life of an iconic American figure into a movie script would pay off years later when it came time to penning “Oppenheimer.”

After Rilo Kiley’s 2013 breakup, Lewis was prolific with new material and touring, releasing solo albums as well as collaborative work with Johnathan Rice, The Watson Twins and her supergroup Nice as Fuck. After spending much of 2021 playing arena shows opening for Harry Styles, Lewis is back on the road solo again promoting her breezy new album “Joy’All.” Her energetic show Tuesday night at New York’s The Rooftop at Pier 17 brought a great bounce to the new music from her fourth solo album and added a cheery sheen to her older material.
