Joe Pickett will not return for a third season. Paramount+ has canceled the series, starring Michael Dorman, after two seasons.

It was a found-footage-stylized microbudget horror pic that spawned a six film theatrical franchise that grossed over $890M, now Paranormal Activity is set to be a play.

New York, New York, the John Kander & Fred Ebb musical that arrived on Broadway last spring to considerable anticipation, will play its final performance on Sunday, July 30, having played just 33 preview and 110 regular performances.

When it comes to horror, Broadway typically cedes turf to Hollywood, the occasional Martin McDonough play notwithstanding. There have been giant apes, operatic phantoms, and a misguided vampire or two without providing so much as a single genuine tingle.

Tatiana Maslany and Laurie Metcalf are both heading back to Broadway in the first show of the upcoming 2023-24 season.

Grey House, Levi Holloway’s bumps-in-the-night stage thriller, will make its New York debut on Broadway this spring with a cast that features Laurie Metcalf, Tatiana Maslany, Paul Sparks, Sophia Anne Caruso, and Millicent Simmonds. Joe Mantello will direct.

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter Laurie Metcalf and Tatiana Maslany will share the stage in the upcoming Broadway play “Grey House.” Joe Mantello, the Tony-winning director of “Wicked,” “Take Me Out” and “Assassins,” is directing the show, described as the “first-of-its-kind Broadway experience.” It’s one of the few thrillers on the Great White Way. Levi Holloway wrote “Grey House,” which takes place after a couple crashes their car in the mountains and seek shelter in an isolated cabin. The somewhat unusual inhabitants are eager to make their guests feel right at home. But as the blizzard outside rages on and one night turns into several, the couple becomes less and less sure of what’s true—about their hosts, themselves, and why that sound in the walls keeps getting louder.

Lambert along with the films star, Daisy Ridley have earned raves following the premiere and the project is now being eyed by several buyers who attended opening night. Zooey Deschanel has joined the Season 3 cast of Physical, Apple TV+’s hit, half-hour dramedy starring and executive produced by Rose Byrne.

Zooey Deschanel is joining “Physical” Season 3 on Apple TV+, marking a new addition to the 1980s San Diego-set half-hour comedy about a housewife named Sheila (Rose Byrne) who discovers empowerment via aerobics. The “New Girl” star will portray Kelly, a network sitcom star who ventures into the burgeoning fitness industry.Executive produced by Byrne and loosely inspired by creator, writer, showrunner and EP Annie Weisman’s real life, “Physical” follows Sheila, a stifled homemaker who seemingly supports her controversial husband’s (Rory Scovel) bid for state assembly, but privately has her own ambitions.

BreAnna Bell Zooey Deschanel will be joining the cast of “Physical” for Season 3, Variety has learned. She joins a cast that includes Rose Byrne, Dierdre Friel, Della Saba, Lou Taylor Pucci, Paul Sparks, Ashley Liao and Geoffrey Arend. Deschanel will play Kelly, described as “a former sitcom star who jumps into the burgeoning fitness industry.” According to the show’s synopsis, the half-hour dark comedy “is set in the beachy paradise of sunny 1980s San Diego and follows Sheila Rubin (Byrne), a quietly tortured, seemingly dutiful housewife supporting her smart but controversial husband’s bid for state assembly. Sheila comes to find her own reprieve from her daily woes in the world of aerobics, but it comes with its own host of troubles as well.”

Dark comedy Physical will be back for another go-round. Apple TV+ announced today it has renewed the half-hour dramedy, starring and exec produced by Rose Byrne, for a third season.

Apple TV+ has rounded out the ensemble cast for its new dramedy Physical.
