A Netflix documentary has helped to find a girl six years after she went missing, after featuring age progression photos of her. Kayla Unbehaun's story was featured on Netflix's Unsolved Mysteries which then led to a shop owner in North Carolina, USA, recognising her. Kayla was just nine years old when she vanished in 2017 after allegedly being abducted by her mother, Heather Unbehaun.
At the time of her disappearance, Kayla had spending the day with her mother, who had visitation rights, but lived with her father who had full custody. The child's father, Ryan Iskerka, found both Kayla and her mum missing when he arrived to collect her from her mother's house in Wheaton, Illinois - 20 miles from his home in South Elgin, also in Illinois. Nothing was heard from the pair for years, until an unidentified shop owner 600 miles away in the city of Asheville, North Carolina, spotted Kayla as reported in the Chicago Sun Times. The young girl turned 15 in January, which her father marked by posting a birthday message online.
He wrote: "You are a young woman now with your own thoughts and opinions. I wonder what you are told about me. ...
I've loved you through all of this, no matter what will happen and will continue to love you forever. Love, Dada". Heather Unbehaun, 40, was arrested in Asheville on Saturday and, according to ABC News, posted $250,000 in bail.
She's next due in court on July 11 in North Carolina. Court documents seen by the news channel WSOC describe her alleged crimes as kidnapping and abduction. In a statement released by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on social media, Iskerka said: "I'm overjoyed that Kayla is home safe.

The Writers Guild of America is getting even more Oval Office support.
Jennifer Maas TV Business Writer Former President Barack Obama opened Netflix’s livestream event for his new docuseries, “Working: What We Do All Day,” on Thursday with a more aggressive statement of support for the Writers Guild of America (WGA) than what he initially said in solidarity with the ongoing writers strike. Before the panel, which aired on LinkedIn at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT, got underway, moderator Ira Glass revealed Obama had prepared remarks he wanted to deliver about the WGA’s work stoppage, which is currently in its fourth week. “Part of what this show ‘Working’ is about is how certain things are constant about the work experience. People trying to find work that’s satisfying, people trying to pay the bills,” Obama said. “Unfortunately one of the things that’s also been constant is the struggle for people to make sure their employers are treating them fairly and they’re getting a fair share of the pie. I think what we’ve seen throughout American history is that unions and worker organizations have had to make demands on their employers, those that are controlling whatever industry they’re in, to make sure they’re treated fairly and entertainment is no exception. My hope would be that in a time of big technological change, where you’ve got big mega corporations that are doing really well, that they keep in mind the creative people who are actually making the product that consumers appreciate and that gets exported all around the world.
