Meghan Markle plans to dominate Hollywood - however, she has no interest in directing or acting.
The Duchess of Sussex is set to take on new project alongside Prince Harry to produce Carley Fortune’s “Meet Me at the Lake” for Netflix as part of their multi-million dollar deal with the streamer, reports Page Six.
The deal was confirmed in the past few weeks - and despite initial speculation, the pair did not buy the rights to the book, estimated to be worth around $3 million (£2.3m)
Instead, Netflix bought it for them to produce under their Archewell Productions arm.
The book is “right up their alley" one insider claimed.
The novel explores a couple's relationship who meet in their thirties - touching on several echoes of the Sussexes’ real life — including themes of childhood trauma and losing a parent in a car crash (similar to Harry’s mother Princess Diana), mental health challenges and post-natal depression, which Meghan has spoken about publicly.
Plus said the insider: “They love love stories and rom-coms.”
And much to the public knowledge, the Sussexes famously wanted to tell their own “love story” in their 2022 Netflix documentary “Harry & Meghan.”
Recently, the couple has been reconstructing their team amid the departure of top producer Ben Browning, who was the head of internal content at Archewell Productions and oversaw the documentary.
It's also been revealed that the Sussex's have parted ways with their senior vice-president of scripted television, Nishika Kumble after she lasted just two years in the job.
The United States-based couple has been slammed after they lost their lucrative Spotify deal, with rumours swirling that they may also be on the verge of losing their Netflix deal.
