Neighbours say they heard "screams" and a loud "bang" as a fatal fire ripped through a house in Tameside.
A man has died after the blaze tore through a terraced home in Kipling Avenue, Droylsden, in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday). Fire crews rushed to the scene at about midnight and attempted to put out the flames.
However, the man, whose age has not been revealed, was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman and child were also in the house but did not suffer any injuries.

Detectives have since launched an investigation into the incident. They have not said whether the fire is being treated as arson, but described it as an "isolated incident".
A scene remained in place on Kipling Avenue throughout Wednesday morning and into the afternoon. A lone police car remained parked at the end the "quiet" cul-de-sac, off Waverley Crescent.
As heavy rain fell, forensic officers could be seen combing the inside the property. An eyewitness said she heard "screams" coming from the house shortly after the fire broke out.
“We looked out of the window and saw the fire,” she added.
Another woman, living in Keighley Avenue - the road behind Kipling Avenue - described hearing a loud "bang" around the time of the incident.
"I heard the bang and looked out and saw the house alight," she explained. "It's very sad to hear what has happened."
Another neighbour, a man who asked not to be named, said he heard sirens late last night and looked outside to see smoke billowing from the house.
"There were fire engines, police and ambulances," he added. "When you see all that attention, it must be serious.
