Police who pulled over a woman for her 'erratic driving' found drugs stashed in the car and a convicted murderer sat in the passenger seat. Samantha McEvoy, 34, and Nicholas Cole, 45, were in a Honda CR-V when police stopped them in Liverpool in November 2021, ChronicleLive reports.
Bags of cannabis were found in the car before police went on to search McEvoy's Sunderland home, where cocaine, amphetamines and a number of documents containing suspected dealers' lists were discovered.
Newcastle Crown Court heard that Cole played a significant role in the drug dealing and was on licence at the time for a murder conviction dating back to when he was a teen. Both appeared at the court on Tuesday, Cole was sentenced for possession of class A, B and C drugs with intent to supply.

McEvoy was sentenced for possession of class B drugs with intent to supply. Both had pleaded guilty.
The court heard that McEvoy was driving a Honda erratically in the Liverpool area in the early hours of March 14, 2021 when police pulled her over. Cole was found sitting in the passenger seat and officers could smell cannabis.
Kelly Clarke, prosecuting, said: "Police noticed a smell of cannabis coming from the car and located cannabis on the rear passenger side. More cannabis was found in a plastic in the central console of the car along with £330 in cash, four Nokia phones and a Breitling watch."
The court heard that police then searched McEvoy's Sunderland home and further drugs were found there, including £454 cash. Ms Clarke said over 24g
