Michael Owen is "barely watching" Love Island, and that he can't wait for his daughter to return home, a source has claimed. Gemma Owen, 19, is the youngest contestant on this year's show, and is one of this year's stand-out Love Island stars - but her experiences in the villa are being missed by dad Michael. A source close to the 42 year old footballing legend has said that he just wants Gemma home and that he has "barely watched the show", but he is still "massively proud of her".
Speaking to the MailOnline, the source said: "To be honest Michael will just be relieved when Gemma's home. "He's massively proud of her and knows she has a sensible head on her shoulders. "But he knows she is incredibly ambitious which has left him a bit anxious that doesn't lead to her doing stuff to win the show that she might otherwise normally have stepped back from.
"Michael has barely watched the show as he has been quite busy over the past few weeks but his wife Louise keeps him up to date with what's going on." Gemma has not spoken much about her famous dad in the show, but recently revealed she and her dad have a "love/hate" relationship. Speaking in a heart-to-heart with Ronan Keating's 23 year old son, Jack, after he entered Casa Amor last week, the pair shared stories about their famous family life. "Are you close with your family? With your mum and dad?" Jack asked.
Gemma replied: "Yeah I am. I'm really close with mum. And I'm really close with my dad but we have a love-hate relationship.
"We're really opposite, it's a clash of personalities," Gemma added. This comes as Casa Amor has started to form a rift between Gemma and her Love Island partner, Luca Bish. In Monday night's episode, the two villas could be seen competing
