Love Island's Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu was "lost for words" when Davide Sanclimenti asked her to be exclusive with him during Sunday's instalment of the ITV2 reality show. However, despite the Italian heartthrob, 27, and the Turkish soap star, also 27, committing to each other, it appeared as though not every couple were so pleased for them.
In fact, viewers sat at home seemed as equally lost for words when Gemma Owen, 19, and Luca Bish, 23, had an extremely awkward reaction to their fellow islander's happy news. Following the announcement, Luca stated that there was now three couples in the villa without counting himself and Gemma in that.
A reassuring Ekin-Su said: "You're technically exclusive, you always have. You are boyfriend and girlfriend, you don't need to say it - it's really obvious.
"You just need to meet the parents, that's it." She later called the pair "husband and wife" and the compliment appeared to please Luca who spoke to Gemma to tell her he was pleased by what she said. He told sarcastically her: "It's given me clarity." But Gemma didn't seem so convinced and told him to "shut up", she continued: "You're being bitter." The 23 year old fish monger denied this, but Gemma explained: "We didn't do something like that to know that we are exclusive and I'd prefer it to be this way." Luca pressed: "What about when I ask you to be boyfriend and girlfriend?" To which Gemma stated "that would be different".
