Two well-known health experts have shared their secrets to make one weight loss diet produce results.
Both Michael Mosley and Professor Time Spector are big advocates on intermittent fasting, which involves eating either on certain days, or specific time frames. The idea behind the eating is that the body turns to burning excess fat while fasting, thus helping pounds melt off.
Often called Time Restricted Eating (TRE) by Mr Mosley, he incorporates the method into his rapid weight loss eating plans, which include The Fast 800 and 5:2 diets. Public figures like Rishi Sunak are into the lifestyle, who says he fasts for days a week.
Professor Spector, co-founder of the ZOE Nutrition project aiming to help people live healthier lives, explained why fasting doesn't work for everyone - and how you can make it work for you. The professor said he follows one particular rhythm, fasting for 10 hours a day from around 10.30am or 11am, after he has exercised, Surrey Live reports.
Professor Spector said: "I would finish eating or drinking anything other than black tea or black coffee at 9pm at night. I do that for probably five or six days a week.
"I’m not absolutely rigid on it because I realise that I want to sustain this long-term, and I don’t want to feel like a failure if I’m given this general rule, if you can do things five days out of seven, you’re doing pretty well."
It is good news for anyone planning a holiday as Professor Spector says you can break the rules. He said: "Occasionally, you know, I might be in France and there’s an incredible breakfast buffet and I’m saying, ‘Oh, really? Am I going to miss all that?’
"Sometimes I just do it and life is too short not to take rare opportunities as well."
