Memphis Depay admits he was not able to be himself during his first spell with Manchester United, amid mooted suggestions he could return to Old Trafford this summer transfer window.
Depay, 28, spent 18 months in the Premier League between 2015 and 2017 after being signed from PSV Eindhoven by Dutch compatriot Louis van Gaal - his current manager for the Netherlands national team. Despite vast promise, though, the forward only netted seven goals in 53 games for the club.
He was later sold by Jose Mourinho and revived his career at Lyon before moving to Barcelona last summer. While reports suggest Erik ten Hag could yet swoop for the £17million-rated forward, previous comments made by Depay indicate something would have to change for United to finally reap the benefits of his undoubted quality.

"I cannot be anyone else but Memphis. I tried that and I was not happy with myself. Back in Manchester, I was not happy with myself. How can I be a great football player when you're not happy with yourself?
"I looked in the mirror and I was not happy, I was sad. Now I'm happy to be myself. In terms of quality... nothing [is lacking to be among the best in the world]. I'm not arrogant, but I need to be more consistent, perhaps."
Addressing his future while still a Lyon player, Depay added: "[Lyon] will be in my heart, a part of my life. I thought about adding a tattoo; a souvenir or a date. Coming here was a great decision.
"People would say to me; 'But why are you leaving
