Paul Merson has slammed Manchester United wantaway Cristiano Ronaldo amid his ongoing transfer saga.
Ronaldo, 37, wants to leave Old Trafford this summer and has held crunch talks with key figures at the club. Along with super agent Jorge Mendes, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner headed into Carrington on Tuesday morning for a sit down with United manager Erik ten Hag.
As well as missing the club's pre-season tour due to a family issue, Ronaldo has found himself right at the centre of ongoing transfer speculation this summer. Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and PSG are among those to have distanced themselves from a high-profile move for the Portugal captain.

Ronaldo turned down a lucrative offer from an unnamed Saudi Arabian outfit and he has been linked with a return to Sporting Lisbon. For now, though, he remains a United player and looks set feature in their final pre-season friendly against Rayo Vallecano today (Sunday) at Old Trafford.
In his latest Daily Star column, Merson said: "Ronaldo has told you what he wants, so why hang onto him? United have got to draw the line and get rid of him if they really want to catch City and Liverpool.
"If they can make him out to be the bad one, I think they've had a result. In all honestly, I don't think he does them any favours anyway."
Merson added: "People say he got 24 goals last season, but United never looked like winning anything. It's all right him doing that, but it's like a snooker player making 147s every game and never winning a tournament."
