Meghan Markle to receive prestigious award for 'lifelong advocacy' work

Meghan Markle is to receive another award – this time for her “lifelong advocacy for women and girls”. The Duchess of Sussex, 41, has been named as one of this year’s Ms. Foundation Women of Vision – a prize run by America's oldest women's foundation.The award will be presented to her by political activist and friend Gloria Steinem, who Meghan has been seen with on several occasions.
It comes just a week after the Duchess won a Gracie award for her Archetypes podcast. In a biography on the Ms. Foundation's website, Meghan was described as "a feminist, champion of human rights and gender equity, and global role model".
It added: "Her lifelong advocacy for women and girls remains a constant thread she weaves through both humanitarian and business ventures". Meghan is one of several women set to be handed the award this year - along with Black Voters Matter co-founder LaTosha Brown, abortion rights activist Olivia Julianna and LGBTQ+ advocate Rebekah Bruesehoff. Other recipients include Wanda Irving, co-founder of Dr.
Shalon's Maternal Action Project, and Kimberly Inez McGuire, executive director of Unite for Reproductive & Gender Equity.The awards will be given out at the Ms. Foundation's annual gala on 16 May at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York.Teresa C. Younger, Ms.

"We are grateful to be able to shine a light on their many accomplishments and tireless work on behalf of gender and racial equity across the country and the world."
