Mary Portas has cast off her signature red bob for a completely new style as she showed off her stunning hair transformation while collecting her OBE. It was a proud day for TV star and retail expert Mary, 63, earlier this month as she attended her investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle and was awarded an OBE for services to retail and broadcasting by Princess Anne.
But despite being a firm fixture on TV for years including her series Mary Queen of Shops, she might not have been recognisable to those watching the ceremony as she has shrugged off her familiar hair colour that she became known for after her broadcasting career began in 2007. Mary had sported a vibrant, sharp-cut red bob for many years, alternating between shades from ginger to a deep red.
As she collected her OBE last week, Mary was chic with a completely different, softer look that embraced her naturally silver hair. The retail consultant has given up the red dye and looked glowing with her shiny silver locks, styled into a longer bob that featured natural waves rather than the sharp edges and blunt fringe she was previously known for.
She looked delighted as she shared a laugh with Princess Anne during the ceremony and showed off her OBE afterwards. Mary looked stylish in a cream trouser suit with black detailing that was the perfect neutral background for her OBE medal.
She has previously spoken to BBC Radio 2 about her change in hairstyle - and told how, like many others, she was forced into a new style during lockdown because her high-maintenance do was impossible to keep up with. "Through lockdown, my grey started to come through and everyone, my sister in particular was like, 'What are you going to do with your hair? How are you going to get it
