Seven children have been allegedly shot at during a mass shooting that broke out at an Indianapolis shopping mall. The Indianapolis police department reports that 'multiple people were shot' by Circle Centre mall in the downtown area shortly after 11.30pm prompting a mass evacuation.
An alert issued by the Citizen app alleges that five teenagers were struck by gunfire. IMPD later confirmed they found seven people with gunshot wounds ranging from ages 12-17. All victims are stable, reports the Mirror.
Officers responded to Illinois Street and Maryland Street on reports of a person shot. Police found "multiple" victims with gunshot wounds upon arrival, reports WTHR.
Petrified eyewitnesses said the event was an ongoing active shooter situation, with police evacuating the building. Police and medics surrounded the mall.
The shooting appears to have happened outside a T-Mobile in the Circle Centre Mall in downtown Indianapolis, according to social media. Witnesses say they saw six people taken to the hospital with injuries.
Police say the shooting happened mainly on the northeast corner of Illinois and Maryland streets, outside of any businesses.
