United, who will fly to Thailand this coming Friday for the start of their pre-season tour, will welcome Brighton to Old Trafford on Sunday, August 7 for what will mark Erik ten Hag's first competitive game in charge. It is the sixth season in succession that United will start the campaign at home.
United thumped Leeds United 5-1 on the opening day of last season, meaning a similar result against Graham Potter's Brighton this time around would mark a dream start to life in charge for Ten Hag, who will experience managing at Old Trafford for the first time just seven days earlier, with United welcoming Rayo Vallecano to M16 in their final match of pre-season. The Spanish side will visit Old Trafford on Sunday, July 31.

And the opening day visit of Brighton could not have pleased Rashford more. The United academy graduate has described being at home for the first competitive game of the Ten Hag era as "massive", but has warned that the players must continue listening to Ten Hag on the training ground before even thinking about getting the season off to a winning start.
"Yes, it is a great feeling," Rashford told MUTV. "To have the first game at Old Trafford is massive and I don't think the lads would have it any other way.
"It feels like it has been ages since we played our last game and wore the shirt. That game is going to be an amazing feeling, but until then we have to listen to the coach, work hard in training and make sure we are doing our best to be in good condition to win
