Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga has welcomed the competition for places that is being generated during pre-season following Friday's 4-1 win over Melbourne Victory.
United recorded their second win in as many pre-season outings, coming from behind to score four goals for the second game in succession at Melbourne Cricket Ground. After going a goal down with just five minutes on the clock, the Reds scored twice in quick succession just before half-time, with Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial both getting on the scoresheet.
Manager Erik ten Hag, just as he did in Bangkok against Liverpool, made 10 changes at half-time, meaning United had a very different look after the break. However, those who did come on produced a controlled and measured performance, with Marcus Rashford netting the third goal ahead of Edmond Lupancu netting an own-goal for the fourth.

United's second-half line-up, although it featured the likes of Eric Bailly, Donny van de Beek and Rashford, had a much more youthful look to it, with Ethan Laird, Charlie Savage, Zidane Iqbal and Tahith Chong all getting minutes under their belts. Ten Hag is keen to see what his younger players have got to offer and Elanga, who started in Melbourne, is pleased with the competition for places that is unfolding.
"It is healthy competition. It is important to have competition like that in training, because if someone starts ahead of you in games it will motivate you to work even harder in training and try take their position," Elanga told MUTV.
"It is really important to have competition like that in the team."
