‘Mank’, ‘Trial Of The Chicago 7’, ‘The Crown’ & ‘Schitt’s Creek’ Top 2021 Golden Globe Nominations

Bob Verini Judgment was rendered 51 years ago — on Feb. 18, 1970, to be precise, the sentencing coming two days later — in the historic judicial outrage known as “The Trial of the Chicago 7.” The anniversary is a moment for reflection, so much so that Netflix made director-screenwriter Aaron Sorkin’s motion picture adaptation available free globally for 48 hours on its YouTube channel.Especially considering the events at the U.S.

Aaron Sorkin’s award-nominated drama “The Trial Of The Chicago 7” will be free to stream on YouTube for two days.

The WGA on Tuesday unveiled the movie nominations for its 2021 WGA Awards, honoring outstanding achievement in screenwriting of original, adapted and documentary films during 2020. Winners will be March 21 in a virtual ceremony. Check out the full list below.

As awards season settles into its extended 2021 schedule the one organization there is no cure for, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, are ready for their spotlight. Yes, the Golden Globe Awards will reveal their nominees on Wednesday morning and, as usual, every studio, network, and streamer is quaking in their boots.

The nominations for the 27th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards are in. 

Clayton Davis The Golden Globes have sounded off with the first big take on the film year that has included anything but stability and normalcy. Netflix ruled the nominations day as expected with 22 nods for the film side, with David Fincher’s “Mank” leading with six.

Sacha Baron Cohen is heavily nominated!

Sarah Jessica Parker and Taraji P Henson hosted the virtual announcement event.  Find the full list of nominations here. The nominations this year follow the news that the 78th Golden Globes ceremony will be held by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) in two different locations.

The Trial of the Chicago 7” — which, like “Mank,” is a Netflix release — came closest with five nominations, including nods for best film, drama; best director and best screenplay for Sorkin; supporting actor for Sacha Baron Cohen; and best song. The other nominees for best film in the drama category were Chloe Zhao’s “Nomadland,” Emerald Fennell’s “Promising Young Woman” and Florian Zeller’s “The Father.

Mank, leads with six nominations, while Aaron Sorkin's The Trial of the Chicago 7 follows with five nods. Florian Zeller's The Father, Chloé Zhao's Nomadland, and Emerald Fennell's Promising Young Woman follow with four nominations each.
