The 19-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant start to life in professional football with his strength, speed and goalscoring qualities seeing him likened to Erling Haaland. Unsurprisingly, Ferguson's form has seen him be linked to a host of clubs including United.
Reports in September suggested the Reds had attempted to sign Ferguson in the summer but their bid was 'laughed off' and MEN Sport understands the Reds are keeping a watchful eye on his progress. With an approach from United on the backburner, Ferguson has continued to flourish under Roberto De Zerbi's mentorship.

On Sunday, the Republic of Ireland international bagged his fifth goal of the season as the Seagulls drew 1-1 with Fulham on the South Coast. This goal puts Ferguson just one strike behind Rooney's record of 11 goals by a teenager in a calendar year, a feat reached in 2005.
Rooney's breakout campaign in the top flight led to him becoming a household name and a legend for both club and country. When asked at the weekend about closing in on the 38-year-old's achievement, Ferguson was modest in his reaction.
"Yes, not bad, not bad," the forward responded to Sussex Live. "Especially as a kid looking up to him and watching Wayne Rooney play so that’s not bad news.
