Manchester United supporters are divided on Erik ten Hag’s decision to sell Anthony Elanga after the winger helped Nottingham Forest pull off a shock win.
In Nuno Espirito Santo’s first away game as manager, the visitors stunned Newcastle United 3-1 to put breathing space between themselves and the bottom three. Elanga was the star of the show, terrorising the Magpies’ backline all afternoon.

Amazon commentator Clive Tyldesley questioned in-game whether Elanga is better than the attacking options Ten Hag has at his disposal. United allowed the Swede to leave in July having not started a Premier League game for eight months.
Ten Hag urged Old Trafford chiefs to splash out £80million on Antony, his protege at Ajax, a deal which pushed Elanga down the pecking order. The 23-year-old has struggled since the move and, combined with Jadon Sancho’s struggles, makes the right flank a problem area for United.
Some supporters on social media were quick to agree with Tyldesey’s assessment during Forest’s impressive win at St James’ Park. One rival fan went as far as to suggest selling him for £15million was the “dumbest” transfer dealing Ten Hag has made.
