United remain determined to keep Cristiano Ronaldo, despite being linked with free agent Paulo Dybala as a possible replacement.
Ronaldo is the only United player yet to return to pre-season training as doubts grow as to whether he will be back at the club in time for the start of the pre-season tour. United fly to Bangkok, Thailand on Friday for the first leg of a tour that also includes trips to Melbourne and Perth, Australia.
The 37-year-old has been allowed to miss what should have been the start of his pre-season after requesting leave due to "family issues". Erik ten Hag gave his players a day off today (Wednesday) but Ronaldo was not among United's returning international players on Monday or Tuesday.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta insists his club do not want to sell Frenkie de Jong this summer, despite talks with United regarding a potential deal.
Ten Hag has identified the Dutch midfielder as his top target in the summer transfer window, and the Manchester Evening News revealed last week that United had agreed a deal in principle to sign De Jong this summer. United's protracted eight-week pursuit of De Jong is still expected to be finalised in a €65million (£56.14m) deal plus add-ons and it is understood the initial fee will be paid in instalments.
Spanish sources have told the Manchester Evening News that the 25-year-old has accepted he will have to leave Barcelona and Laporta is waiting for the transfer to go through before sanctioning moves in the market.
