Bayern Munich have distanced themselves from the prospect of signing Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo, insisting he doesn't suit their philosophy.
Ronaldo, who sealed a fairytale return to Old Trafford from Juventus almost a year ago, wants to leave United this summer in pursuit of Champions League football. The Manchester Evening News also understands that the Portuguese star wants to leave because of the club's slow start to the summer transfer window and is "upset" that the squad has been forced to accept a 25 per cent reduction in their salaries.
United have failed to qualify for this forthcoming season's Champions League campaign, finishing a disappointing sixth in the Premier League last term. It means they will compete in the Europa League instead.

Confirmation of Ronaldo's desire to leave United, who have reiterated that he is not for sale, has sparked rife speculation about his future and which clubs could be in a realistic position to try and sign him this summer. Among them are German giants Bayern, with the Bundesliga heavyweights considered as one of the biggest clubs on the planet, who have the ability to attract big-name stars.
However, Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn has played down the likelihood of them moving for the 37-year-old. But that has not stopped him from hailing his credentials.
"As much as I appreciate Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the greatest, a transfer would not fit into our philosophy," Kahn told Kicker.
