Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has confirmed that his recovery from a long-term injury is heading in the right direction.
The Netherlands international, who joined United from Dutch giants Ajax in September 2020, suffered a knee problem during the Reds' 3-0 win over Bournemouth at Old Trafford back in January. His leg buckled under a challenge from Cherries defender Marcos Senesi, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.
Over the last few weeks, the midfielder, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton, has posted a couple of encouraging updates on his social media channels, sharing images of him doing some gym work, offering optimism that his recovery is heading in the right direction.

And he backed up those suggestions ahead of United's clash with Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, issuing an update on his rehabilitation during a quick chat with United supporters in Singapore as part of a special MUTV feature.
"I am busy recovering from my injury and everything is going well," Van de Beek told MUTV. "It is hard to give you a time [on a return date], we just need to see how everything goes.
"I am, for now, doing a lot of gym work. But I am getting closer to being on the pitch so that is a positive. I am not far away."
Sidelined since January, the midfielder, who has made just 60 appearances for the Reds, has admitted that it has been tough taking up a watching brief in recent months.
"It is a bit strange," added the Dutchman. "Of course you want to be there with the lads and not here [on the sidelines], but it is what it is and I am now supporting them from the side."
