In the event they do make a change, though, the new co-owners have been linked with Nagelsmann and several other high-profile options.
Roberto De Zerbi, England manager Gareth Southgate and Graham Potter have done the rounds in recent weeks. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, though, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS Group are not planning that far ahead, even though they might need to in order to secure Nagelsmann.

Romano told The United Stand: "It's not a proper shortlist, because they're not having any interviews or discussions with other managers from what I'm hearing. They're not at that stage.
"Obviously they've got some managers they appreciate. They [INEOS] were already in football.
"They have some names they know very well but, in case they decide to part ways with Erik ten Hag, that would be an important process and it's not something they will have already decided by now."
Responding to a question framed on De Zerbi, Nagelsmann, Southgate and Potter, he added: "Some of them [will be on the list] yes. Others, at the moment, I'm not aware of.
