The assistant of Roberto De Zerbi has admitted the Brighton manager could be tempted by a return to Napoli, should the opportunity arise.
De Zerbi is one of the names to have been studied as a possible replacement for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United this summer, with the Dutchman facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford - though England boss Gareth Southgate is also being considered by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS. Liverpool, too, have been linked with De Zerbi as they prepare for life after Jurgen Klopp.
It remains to be seen where the 44-year-old Italian ends up this summer, though one possibility could be Napoli - a club De Zerbi represented for four years during his playing career. The reigning Serie A champions are enduring a season to forget, languishing in seventh position and are on their third manager of the campaign.
Rudy Garcia and Walter Mazzarri have both been sacked this term, resulting in Slovakia national team manager Francesco Calzona taking charge until the end of May. As a result, the Italian side will soon be on the lookout for a new coach and could turn to De Zerbi.

Admitting this is a prospect the Brighton boss would find hard to turn down, De Zerbi's assistant Andrea Maldera said: "He is in love with Italy. It is his country and Napoli is among his favourite teams. We’re fine at Brighton. We have another two years on our contract, then if a proposal came from Italy, and also from Naples, Roberto would take it into consideration. I don’t know, but why say no to a place like Naples?"
