A Manchester brewery is to host a special beer festival featuring live music, traditional games and more than 20 different cask ales to sample.
The Woodthorpe Beer Festival will be held at the Woodthorpe pub in Prestwich by Manchester brewers Joseph Holt from November 24 to 26. The Bury pub is the family home of Sir Edward Holt, the son of the brewery's eponymous founder.
The weekend event will allow visitors to sample a wide range of ales and beers, and feast on pies and Bratwurst sausages. There will also be talks from brewers and an international keg bar.

Joseph Holt, which was founded 173 years ago, says the festival will pay homage to its cask ale roots. “Joseph Holt was built on cask ale, and when it comes to cask ale, the UK is a world leader in its production,” says Andrew Kershaw, an area manager with Joseph Holt and the sixth generation of the family to work for the brewery.
“At Joseph Holt we are passionate about cask ale and have continued to brew it even when other pubs and brewers took it off the bar because of the attention to detail involved in crafting the product. That's why we thought it was so important to stage a joyful event to celebrate our rich history of real ale.”
Products on offer at the festival will also include IPAs, bitters and other cask ales and beers from brewers around the North West and further afield. There will also be music from local bands as well as traditional pub games, like tossing the barrel.
The festival will take place under a large marquee in the Woodthorpe’s grounds. The site is where Sir Edward Holt
