Cristiano Ronaldo’s successful penalty against Brentford on Monday night means he has scored in four consecutive league matches for the first time this season.
The Manchester hero took his overall season tally to 24 goals and bumped up his league record to 18 for the campaign. He has now netted six times in his last four matches, which included a hat-trick against Norwich last month.
Prior to the win over Brentford, Ronaldo was named United’s player of the month for April, the fourth time he has picked up the accolade this season. He is by some distance the club’s top scorer this term, sitting 14 ahead of second-place Bruno Fernandes.

The last few matches have shown that the Premier League golden boot race is never over when Ronaldo is involved. Currently, Mo Salah leads the way with 22 goals.
However, he has netted just twice in his last six league outings for Liverpool, both of them coming in the 4-0 thrashing of United as it happens. In second is Son Heung-min, who scored twice for Tottenham against Leicester at the weekend to take his tally to 19.
Ronaldo completes the top three with his 18 strikes while Diogo Jota (15) and Sadio Mane (14) head the leading back. In his current lethal form, only a fool would write off the Portugal captain netting more against Brighton and Crystal Palace in his club’s final two games.
Many will argue he is more than capable of grabbing four goals in those matches to draw level with Salah. That said, Liverpool have four games left to play in their title hunt.
Onlookers are expecting Salah to grab at least a couple more in the fixtures against Tottenham, Aston Villa, Southampton and Wolves. Factor in
