Married At First Sight UK viewers were fuming when Matt Murray and Whitney Hughes asked to stay in the experiment with each other amid the 'cheating' drama. Things went south during last night’s dinner party episode when it emerged the 32-year-old barber from Huddersfield had feelings for Whitney, 31, a legal assistant from St Albans. Couples sitting at the dinner suspected something was going on between Matt and Whitney when they kept looking across the table at each other.
Whitney was paired with Duka, while Matt married Gemma – who was understandably not happy about the situation. Following a heated argument at the table, with a distraught Gemma telling Matt she felt “used” and that Whitney “should be ashamed of herself”, scenes showed Matt and Whitney sharing a kiss on a bridge and then spending the night together. In Wednesday's episode, things were awkward between the couples in the aftermath of the scandal.
The couples took part in the Commitment Ceremony where the experts discussed the events that unfolded and whether they wanted to stay. Experts, including Paul C Brunson, Mel Schilling and Charlene Douglas, asked both couples to discuss their week together. Whitney immediately admitted that Matt gave her 'butterflies at her 31-year-old age', with Matt basically feeling the same way.
Gemma, on the other hand, felt 'disrespected' about the situation and the fact they shared a bed. However, Matt and Whitney denied sharing a bed until everything was revealed with the other contestants during the dinner. "I just want to be happy and that guy over there makes me happy," Whitney told the experts.
