MAFS dating expert Mel Shilling gives health update as she begins chemotherapy

Mel Schilling, the dating expert from Married at First Sight, has provided a health update as she begins chemotherapy. Last year, Mel, who is 52-years-old, found out she had colon cancer, which changed her life. The TV star, who shares nine-year-old daughter Maddie with Irish businessman Gareth Brisbane, was diagnosed with the disease just before Christmas last year, having noticed changes while she was filming MAFS in Australia.
She has since kept her fans updated on her progress and posted a video as she began chemotherapy, reports Mirror Online. "So here I am, day one of chemo," she shared in a video outside the hospital. "I have so much stuff with me thanks to all the advice I had on what to bring.
It's like I'm moving in for six weeks. Here it goes!" The dating guru then showed a bag full of things she needs for the next few weeks while she fights the illness. Mel also shared a selfie with her husband and wrote: "It takes all of us to fight cancer" and said Gareth is "my #1 support".
Mel has been on the UK version of MAFS and was also on Celebs Go Dating, helping stars figure out why they have trouble staying in relationships. She went on to share photos from the hospital, including her snacks and a special jumper made for people having chemo. She wrote: "How brilliant is the design of this jumper? Customised for people going through chemo." She was happy as she left the hospital with Christina Aguilera's song Stronger playing.
