Thania Garcia Madonna’s “Celebration” tour has been delayed again after being postponed after the singer developed a serious bacterial infection. The tour was originally scheduled to begin July 15 in Vancouver though the 64-year-old was rushed to the hospital on June 24 due to the infection, according to an Instagram post from her manager Guy Oseary. For the first time since her hospitalization, Madonna addressed the tour and her health writing that she was “on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life.” She additionally added that she was going to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and bein in October in Europe.
At the time of Oseary’s post, he stated Madonna was going to “pause all commitments, which includes the tour,” and said her team would “share more details with you as soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.”
Reports by TMZ described Madonna as “weak and very tired” but also said she was spending lots of time resting. The “Celebration” tour was set to commemorate the 64-year-old’s 40th anniversary of her career that would take her to 43 cities across the world through the beginning of next year. Madonna was set to perform over 80 shows across North America and Europe including Chicago, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, London, Barcelona and Paris. According to its announcement in January, the trek was created to “[highlight] her unmatched catalog of music from the past 40-plus years,” while simultaneously “[paying] respect to the city of New York, where her career in music began.”
