Her newfound power brings her in contact with three young girls (Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced and Celeste O’Connor) who are being hunted by an evil explorer. The Sony film is one of the biggest flops in comic book movie history.
The Johnson-led tentpole has only grossed around $42 million so far at the domestic box office, and its worldwide gross remains under the $100 million mark after more than a month of release. Critics also eviscerated the film (it scored a 12% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 225 reviews). “The script is confusing, the action stale and the visual effects cheap,” Variety film critic Peter DeBruge wrote in his review.
“A recurring device that places Cassie at the center of what looks like a giant plasma ball, surrounded by static tendrils, is downright embarrassing.” That being said, there is likely a significant amount of people who weren’t eager to catch Sony’s latest “Spider-Man” installment in theaters but are curious enough to rent/purchase the film online (Or, if they can wait even longer, to stream the film in April). Spice Girls. The British pop star, 48, whose real name is Melanie Brown, playfully walked off “Today With Hoda & Jenna” Monday after saying perhaps too much about the iconic ’90s girl group’s upcoming plans. When co-host Jenna Bush Hager, 42, asked Brown if she could “just break the news” about the group’s rumored reunion, the pop star replied, “I can’t because I always get told off because I’m the blabbermouth.”Still, Brown continued, “You know, we are working — I think I said this to you before, us five are working on something that’s going to be announced soon,” she doubled down about her January appearance on the NBC talk show.
Sydney Sweeney has opened up more about starring in Sony Pictures‘ Madame Web, which she has described as a “strategic business decision”.Speaking to GQ UK recently, Sweeney responded to the film’s negative reception and co-star Dakota Johnson‘s comments about the film’s production and flop at the box office. While Johnson said she “probably will never do anything like it again”, Sweeney’s open to taking another crack at the film: “I think that if the story is right and you have the right team, I would love to.”However, Sweeney also revealed that her decision to act in Madame Web was more of a business move than anything else: “To me that film was a building block, it’s what allowed me to build a relationship with Sony.
Anyone But You will soon head to streaming!
Sony Pictures Classics announced on Tuesday that it will release its indie drama Daddio, starring Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn, in theaters nationwide on June 28.
Zack Sharf Digital News Director Sydney Sweeney said in a recent interview with GQ UK that starring in Sony’s “Madame Web” was a “strategic business decision” that more or less paid off despite the film being one of the year’s most infamous box office flops. In Sweeney’s eyes, “Madame Web” got her in the door at Sony Pictures and that’s where she was able to have a massive box office success with the romantic comedy “Anyone but You.” “To me, that film was a building block, it’s what allowed me to build a relationship with Sony,” Sweeney told the publication. “Without doing ‘Madame Web’ I wouldn’t have a relationship with the decision-makers over there.
Sydney Sweeney is looking at the positive side of starring in Sony-Marvel’s Madame Web despite the negativity surrounding the film.
Sydney Sweeney knows what will get her to star in another Marvel movie!
To the surprise of no one (at least no one familiar with “Morbius“), “Madame Web” was a box office bomb and the first cinematic laughingstock of 2024. Not a great start of the year for Sony, who has two other spinoffs in its “Spider-verse” hitting theaters this year: “Kraven The Hunter” on August 30 and the newly titled “Venom: The Last Dance” on October 25.
Sydney Sweeney has addressed the box office flop of her latest film, Sony‘s superhero flick Madame Web.Last month, Madame Web premiered in cinemas around the world on February 14, and in its first six days, it took just $26.2 million (£20.8 million) in the US, and a further $25.7 million (£20.4 million) internationally. This represents an underperformance, even compared to Sony’s recent Morbius, which itself was seen as a commercial disappointment. The film has so far failed to garner any commercial success, rending it a “flop” at the box office.
Sydney Sweeney is opening up about Madame Web after the Sony and Marvel film opened to disappointing box office results and reviews.
Zack Sharf Digital News Director Sydney Sweeney just premiered her latest movie, “Immaculate,” at SXSW, and it marks her third high profile release in four months. She conquered the box office opposite Glen Powell in the hit romantic comedy “Anyone But You” (which has earned more than $200 million worldwide), and then she experienced her first studio flop with the Sony comic book tentpole “Madame Web.” Not that Sweeney is too concerned. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the actor was unfazed when asked about “Madame Web” being widely mocked.
William Earl Jimmy Kimmel didn’t pull any punches in his opening Oscars monologue, poking fun at several Hollywood hot topics during Sunday’s ceremony. Kimmel, who is hosting for the fourth time, congratulated the audience for “making it on time. The show is starting an hour early this year, but it will go very, very late.
Dakota Johnson is in trouble with Sony and the team behind Madame Web after her recent comments about the film!
Dakota Johnson ain’t trying to sugar coat what a complete flop Madame Web is.
Madame Web star Dakota Johnson has spoken about her experience making the film, which is something she says she’ll “never” do again.Speaking to Bustle recently, Johnson shared that she’s “not surprised” at the film’s negative reception. She went on to explain: “It’s so hard to get movies made, and in these big movies that get made — and it’s even starting to happen with the little ones, which is what’s really freaking me out — decisions are being made by committees, and art does not do well when it’s made by committee.”“Films are made by a filmmaker and a team of artists around them.
