Spider-Man spin-off Madame Web, according to reports.The actor, who recently received an Emmy nomination for Best Actor in Severance, is set to star alongside (via Deadline) Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney in the film, from director S.J. Clarkson.Scott’s role in the film is unknown.

Madame Web has registered one of the weakest box office opening weeks of all time for a film based on a Marvel character.The film was released into cinemas around the world on February 14, and in its first six days, it took just $26.2 million (£20.8 million) in the US, and a further $25.7 million (£20.4 million) internationally. This represents an underperformance, even compared to Sony’s recent Morbius, which itself was seen as a commercial disappointment.Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, Madame Web stars Dakota Johnson in the lead role as a woman who develops psychic abilities.

While there seems to be a big debate raging this year about superhero fatigue and the decline of Marvel Studios, Sony has quite a few new superhero films ready to go over the next year or so. You have to imagine the studio is desperately hoping superhero fatigue will take a break in 2024.

Saturday Night Live.The filmmaker will reunite with Ghostbusters: Afterlife co-writer Gil Kenan to pen the script for the project, which will tell the behind-the-scenes story of the show’s premiere episode on October 11, 1975.According to Deadline, the film will be based on real-life accounts of Saturday Night Live’s opening night from an extensive series of interviews conducted by Reitman and Kenan with “all the living cast, writers and crew”.This is the second film Reitman is working on for Sony Pictures. He’s also serving as a co-writer and producer on the sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife, directed by Kenan.Aside from the 2021 reboot of Ghostbusters, Reitman is best known for directing films Juno, Up In The Air and Young Adult.

Producer Jason Reitman appeared via video sans footage with the Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel cast of McKenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon in what was the first look of the movie. Reitman confirmed that the new sequel, due out on December 20, returns the franchise back to New York City where the first movie took place.

HBO shows like Euphoria and The White Lotus, Sweeney told The Hollywood Reporter that she still has insecurities over her finances.“If I wanted to take a six-month break, I don’t have income to cover that,” Sweeney said. “I don’t have someone supporting me, I don’t have anyone I can turn to, to pay my bills or call for help.”When asked about the payments from HBO, Sweeney said: “They don’t pay actors like they used to, and with streamers, you no longer get residuals.

Sony is pushing their Spider-Man family title Madame Web from July 7 to Oct. 6, 2023. That first weekend of October has been a gold mine for the Culver lot where they own the month’s second and third biggest openings with Venom: Let There Be Carnage ($90M) and Venom ($80.2M).
