‘The First Omen’ Review: The Devil Is In The Details In Gory Nun’s Story Prequel To 1976 Original

I am not sure the world asked for yet another take on 20th Century Fox’s Omen franchise, the constantly regurgitated series with Damien (who made the numbers 666 iconic) and company. Since the 1976 original, when Damien first appeared in the movie with Gregory Peck and Lee Remick, we have had Damien: Omen II, The Final Conflict, Omen IV: The Awakening (in which a girl becomes the antichrist for the first time), the 2006 remake The Omen, and even a 2016 Damien TV series. Of course, like all these horror franchises, it is inevitable someone would come up with the idea for an origin story, and that is what we now have with The First Omen, which is, of course, not the first, just the latest. But, set in 1971, it does attempt to take us right to the doorstep of the actual first, the Richard Donner-directed 1976 starter.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce nominated in same category at 2024 Webby Awards

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have been nominated in the same category at this year’s Webby Awards. While the couple are both up for awards in separate categories at the New York ceremony on May 13, they are also both shortlisted for Best Creator or Influencer Collaboration, Features (Social).Kelce’s nod is for a team-up with the Cheesecake Factory and Swift is nominated for her partnership with Vote.org on National Voter Registration Day.They are both up against Paris Hilton, Amaury Guichon, and TikTok’s Tube Girl.Swift’s nomination comes after she urged her fans to take action at the forthcoming US elections, driving record-breaking numbers to the Vote.org website last September.Vote.org saw its highest traffic on National Voter Registration Day since 2020 as a result of her influence.Last month, she also urged her fans to vote in the US primary elections which saw 16 states cast their ballots to pick their Republican and Democratic nominees for president.Swift has been cautious in her approach to politics over the years, first breaking her silence back in 2018 to back the Democrats in the US midterm elections. In 2019, she went so far as to accuse Donald Trump of “gaslighting the American public”, before officially endorsing Joe Biden the following year. She was responsible for driving record-breaking numbers to the voter registration site.It was reported earlier this year that Biden was seeking a Swift endorsement in an effort to swing the next US Presidential Election.Elsewhere, at the 28th annual Webby Awards nominees, include Lil Nas X, Victoria Monét, Sydney Sweeney, Timothée Chalamet, Trixie Mattel, Ryan Gosling, Michelle Obama, Laverne Cox, Adam Driver, Kelly Clarkson, and more.Public voting is open now via the

Sydney Sweeney Says ‘Madame Web’ Was a ‘Business Decision’ That Set Up Relationships at Sony: ‘Because I Did That,’ I Got ‘Anyone but You’ Sold

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Sydney Sweeney said in a recent interview with GQ UK that starring in Sony’s “Madame Web” was a “strategic business decision” that more or less paid off despite the film being one of the year’s most infamous box office flops. In Sweeney’s eyes, “Madame Web” got her in the door at Sony Pictures and that’s where she was able to have a massive box office success with the romantic comedy “Anyone but You.” “To me, that film was a building block, it’s what allowed me to build a relationship with Sony,” Sweeney told the publication. “Without doing ‘Madame Web’ I wouldn’t have a relationship with the decision-makers over there.

Daniel D'Addario Chief TV Critic Sydney Sweeney’s had a huge 2024 so far — and her most startling act of the year is still ahead. In the early weeks of the year, her Sony Pictures romantic comedy with Glen Powell, “Anyone But You,” showed remarkable staying power at the box office, eventually building from a tepid early result amid holiday competition to over $200 million at the global box office on the strength of word-of-mouth.

‘Madame Web’: Sydney Sweeney Remains Unphased; “I Was Just Hired As An Actress”

To the surprise of no one (at least no one familiar with “Morbius“), “Madame Web” was a box office bomb and the first cinematic laughingstock of 2024. Not a great start of the year for Sony, who has two other spinoffs in its “Spider-verse” hitting theaters this year: “Kraven The Hunter” on August 30 and the newly titled “Venom: The Last Dance” on October 25.

Sydney Sweeney on ‘Madame Web’ flop: “I was just hired as an actress in it”

Sydney Sweeney has addressed the box office flop of her latest film, Sony‘s superhero flick Madame Web.Last month, Madame Web premiered in cinemas around the world on February 14, and in its first six days, it took just $26.2 million (£20.8 million) in the US, and a further $25.7 million (£20.4 million) internationally. This represents an underperformance, even compared to Sony’s recent Morbius, which itself was seen as a commercial disappointment. The film has so far failed to garner any commercial success, rending it a “flop” at the box office.
