A homeless man who fell, hurt himself and ended up paralyzed while running away from Atlanta police officers is expected to receive a multimillion-dollar payout from the city, which could impact future services, one city leader said.  A jury initially awarded Jerry Blasingame $100 million after he was Tasered and left paralyzed. A federal judge reduced the amount, meaning Blasingame could receive at least a $40 million payout, Fox Atlanta reported.  "This would put a substantial dent in the amount of services that we would be able to provide to citizens across the board," City Councilman Michael Bond told the news outlet.  Blasingame, 69, was panhandling near a freeway when he attempted to run away during the July 10, 2018, encounter with police officers.

Ludacris, was charged with murder this week for a shooting in June.As reported by CNN, Zulu (real name Ahmed Obafemi) was involved with the incident at the APT 4B restaurant in Atlanta, which left one person dead.Officers arrived on the scene on June 26, finding three men with gunshot wounds, one of which was Zulu. According to his lawyers, Zulu fired his weapon in self-defence.After all three men were taken to hospital, one man – 23-year-old Artez Jamil Benton – died of his injuries.Following the incident, investigators identified Zulu as a suspect, with police obtaining warrants for his arrest.

Atlanta police charged Zulu with murder, aggravated Assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and simple battery on Tuesday.Zulu turned himself into authorities on Tuesday and was able to post a $200,000 bond that same day. It is unclear when Zulu will appear in court.Zulu’s lawyer, Gabe Banks, said in a statement that Zulu was jumped by four individuals and was protecting himself after the suspects repeatedly attacked him while in a “defenseless posture.”The family of Artez Benton wants answers for the death of the 23-year-old.“We just want justice for Artez,” Arteria Benton, older sister of Artez, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.Zulu is known throughout Atlanta for his involvement in the community.
