‘The Flood’ Review: An Alligator Thriller with a Bloody Explicit Chomp Factor

Owen Gleiberman Chief Film Critic The scene where Robert Shaw gets eaten in “Jaws” is one of the most thrilling moments in movie history. After all of Steven Spielberg’s virtuoso framing and cool ’70s Hitchcock scare tactics, the shark’s big-mouthed consumption of a man who fully deserves to be eaten had a shockingly raw “Look, there it is!” exploitation-film brazenness. (One not inaccurate way to describe “Jaws” would be as the greatest B-movie ever made.) “The Flood,” an alligator-attack movie that’s also a violent prison-break thriller, takes its cue from that scene. Set in a backwater Louisiana police station during a hurricane, the film isn’t shy about serving up its big, nasty human-torso-meets-jaws moments. It’s basically a slasher movie with teeth.

Liam Payne Details Rehab Stay, Apologizes For Polarizing Comments About One Direction: ‘A Scramble to Stay Relevant’

Thania Garcia Liam Payne is opening up about his career, sobriety and his controversial appearance on Logan Paul’s podcast in a new YouTube video. The former One Direction member was on the receiving end of widespread backlash after his episode of “Impaulsive” with Paul touched on his negative feelings about his time in the boy band. Among the many details shared with Paul, Payne pulled back the curtain on the moment he almost “came to blows” with another bandmate backstage and aired out his grievances against other ex-members — most notably against Zayn Malik. “One of the biggest remarks I made was about the One Direction thing… and a lot of self-protection, I suppose, in that moment, more than anything,” Payne said in the new video that was uploaded to his YouTube account on July 8. “The rest of the boys really stuck by me when I needed them most, they kinda came to the rescue. Even Zayn, as well, which is why I did send him a little thank you online. It came across really big-headed didn’t it?”

Rolling Stones seek dismissal of song-theft lawsuit on jurisdiction grounds

The Rolling Stones have filed a motion to dismiss the song-theft lawsuit that was launched against them earlier this year. Said motion mainly raises jurisdiction issues with the lawsuit, which was filed by a Spanish musician against a British band with the courts in Louisiana.Sergio Garcia Fernandez claims that the Stones’ 2020 track ‘Living In A Ghost Town’ rips off two songs he wrote in the 2000s, ‘So Sorry’ and ‘Seed Of God’.His lawsuit claims that the Stones track lifted “vocal melodies, the chord progressions, the drum beat patterns, the harmonica parts, the electric bass line parts, the tempos, and other key signatures” from ‘So Sorry’ and the “harmonic and chord progression and melody” from ‘Seed Of God’.As for how Mick Jagger and Keith Richards might have heard Fernandez’s music before writing ‘Living In A Ghost Town’, the Spanish musician alleged that he had previously sent a demo CD to “an immediate family member” of Jagger.According to Digital Music News, legal reps for the Stones filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit last month.

Lainey Wilson Is Not Abashed to ‘Smell Like Smoke,’ as Her Original ‘Yellowstone’ Song Goes Up for Awards Consideration

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic It’s difficult to know whether Lainey Wilson would be as big a star as she’s recently become in the field of country music without the visibility boost she’s received from “Yellowstone.” The series began featuring her songs in season 2, a few years before Lainey was cast for a recurring role as a musician in season 5. The most likely answer: She’d probably be almost as big, even without the Taylor Sheridan factor. After all, it’s not a TV show that came up with the combination of country-rock singing chops, irresistible Louisiana accent and gosh-dang gung-ho that have captivated listeners to the point that, in short succession, she’s racked up four No. 1 Mediabase radio singles and been one of the leading winners at the CMA and ACM awards shows.

Venus and Serena Williams’ Father Richard Retraces His Family’s Journey in Sheffield Doc ‘On the Line’: Watch Trailer (EXCLUSIVE)

Naman Ramachandran Fremantle has unveiled a trailer for documentary feature “On the Line: The Richard Williams Story,” which will have its U.K. premiere at Sheffield DocFest. In the film, which premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Festival, the father of Venus Williams and Serena Williams retraces his family’s meteoric journey in his own words. Featuring never-before-seen archive material and new, in-depth, intimate interviews, the film tells the story of one man’s fight against racism, suppression and violence to raise two of the greatest tennis champions in history. Richard Williams takes the audience from his childhood in poverty-stricken Shreveport, Louisiana, where he was raised by his cotton-picking mother, to the tennis courts of Compton. As the film charts the Williams’ ascent to the tennis world stage, Richard provides insights into family life and also shines a light on unconscious bias and repression of Black people.

on Max (formerly HBO Max), the show is a docuseries that calls itself a “rom doc” (for “romantic documentary”).It focuses on lesbian entrepreneur Ashleigh Warren, 31; hairstylist Reagan Baker, 38, realtor Kesun Lee, 36; and gay data scientist Krishnanand “Kris” Kelkar, 30. “I wouldn’t say I was tired of the New York dating scene, but it did feel like a lot,” Baker told The Post. “It was nice to remove myself from that, in order to reset.”The eight-episode series sends the four singles to eight cities: Asheville, North Carolina; New Orleans, Louisiana; Miami, Florida; Austin, Texas, Santa Fe, New Mexico; Boulder, Colorado; Seattle, Washington; and Honolulu, Hawaii. There, they use dating apps to select potential new partners, and go on dates – all on camera. “There would be cameras around, and I’d be like ‘So…what’s your favorite color?’ I would lose my mojo, at times,” said Baker. “There were a couple of dates that were more awkward than others. But, that’s part of dating.” Not all of the singles agreed on which cities offered the best dates.“I was surprised by Asheville,” said Baker. “That was one of my favorite cities for dating.
