After premiering on Amazon Prime Video with all four episodes on June 2, “Shiny Happy People” reached more viewers in its first nine days than any Amazon docuseries, including high-profile titles like “LuLaRich,” the 2021 docuseries that examined the LuLaRoe pyramid scheme. The Ackles and Chaos Machine were previously under a first-look deal at Warner Bros. Television. It was reported in October 2022 that they had extended the WBTV deal for another two years, but they have now exited that deal for Amazon. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, the Ackles and WBTV parted ways on good terms and any projects Chaos Machine had in development with their now former studio home remain in the works. The WBTV deal was solely a producing deal, while the Amazon deal covers both acting and producing.

The first season consisted of eight episodes, while the second season will consist of just four. “Making this show and seeing the impact it has had in the world has been an incredible joy,” said series creators Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson. “While obviously we were hoping for eleven seasons, we’re grateful to be able to continue to tell the story of these characters and this world.” The announcement comes about a month after it was initially reported that “A League of Their Own” would be coming to an end with an abbreviated second season.

As a precaution, filming was temporarily suspended, however, cast and crew were not made to evacuate the studio site.“At 12.26 pm on Monday 3 April, we received reports of a fire at Bray Studios near Windsor,” read a statement from Royal Berkshire Fire And Rescue Services (via Variety).“Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Bracknell, Slough and Maidenhead Fire Stations were sent to the scene.

The “About Damn Time” singer has opened a casting call for new Big Grrrls, her name for the plus-sized performers who back her up during live performances. In Season 1, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video in March 2022, Lizzo led a group of women through a boot camp in order to select 10 backup dancers for her currently ongoing Special World Tour. The series went on to pick up three Emmys for outstanding competition program, reality directing and reality editing. Though Amazon has not officially greenlit Season 2, a second installation would follow Lizzo as she seeks out contestants who excel in both dancing and singing.

Sam Hazeldine takes on the role of Orc leader Adar in a recasting in the Prime Video series. He replaces Joseph Mawle, who portrayed the character in Season 1. The recasting decision was made months ago, and Mawle did not participate in any of the worldwide promotional events for the series.

Danny Kalb, who led the downtown blues scene in New York during the 1960s and 1970s as a guitarist with his band the Blues Project, died Saturday at a nursing home in Brooklyn where he lived. He was 80. His death was confirmed by his brother, Jonathan.
