EXCLUSIVE: Starz’ The Venery of Samantha Bird has shut down production as a result of the writers strike.

Naman Ramachandran Canadian thriller “Exile” has been acquired by Electric Entertainment in the U.S., Vortex Media in Canada and Nicely Entertainment for international. The film, shot in Powell River, British Columbia, stars Adam Beach (“Power of the Dog,” “Suicide Squad”) as Ted Evans, a father struggling with his past who receives a threat from the man whose family he killed in a DUI. In order to protect his family when he is released from prison, Evans exiles himself and commits to a reclusive life; separating himself from the people he loves. His wife, Sara (Camille Sullivan, “Hunter Hunter”), believes the threat is a manifestation of her husband’s profound guilt. Determined to rebuild their family, Sara tracks down Ted to confront him, but she has no idea who he’s become or how real the threat may be.

Arthur Thomas (Alfie Clarke) and Marshall Hamston (Max Fletcher) are officially boyfriends in Emmerdale, and all is right in the world. Ellise Shafer Glen Powell is in talks to star opposite Daisy Edgar-Jones in Universal and Amblin Entertainment’s “Twisters,” a sequel to 1996’s “Twister.” “Minari” helmer Lee Isaac Chung is directing the film from a script by “The Revenant” writer Mark L. Smith. “Twisters” is set to release on July 19, 2024. Starring Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Carey Elwes and Philip Seymour Hoffman, 1996’s “Twister” made nearly $500 million at the box office and received Oscar nominations in the visual effects and sound categories. It was directed by Jan De Bont (“Speed”) from a screenplay by Michael Crichton, with Steven Spielberg executive producing.

Glen Powell is in talks to co-star opposite Daisy Edgar-Jones in Twisters, a new chapter to the 1996 box-office hit for Amblin Entertainment and Universal Pictures. Lee Isaac Chung is on board to direct from a script by Mark L. Smith. The film will be co-financed by Warner Bros.

Fatboy Slim has announced the line-up for 2023’s edition of All Back to Minehead festival.Following last year’s inaugural event, the festival returns to Butlin’s Minehead resort from November 10-13. Starz has rounded out the series regular cast for The Venery of Samantha Bird, its upcoming drama series starring Katherine Langford. Finn Jones (Iron Fist), Embeth Davidtz (The Morning Show), Brenda Strong (13 Reasons Why), Adam Faison (Everything’s Gonna Be OK), Shalini Bathina (Little Voice) and Tyrone Marshall Brown (Love Is) join Langford in the series created by Anna Moriarty. Additionally, Larysa Kondracki (Power, Better Call Saul) has been added as executive producer and will serve as director on four episodes, including the pilot, and Nicole Jefferson Asher (P-Valley, The First Lady) has joined as co-executive producer. Starz also confirmed the casting of Francesca Reale, whom we previously reported.

The lawyers who were representing Kanye West on a sample lawsuit in relation to ‘Donda 2’ track ‘Flowers’ have confirmed that they are still struggling to formally alert the rapper that they have bailed on the case.To that end they have proposed to the court that is overseeing the litigation that they formally break ties with West via adverts in two LA newspapers.Among the plethora of business partners which sought to cut their ties with West last year – as he started making ever more controversial, racist and anti-semitic remarks – were a number of legal firms.That included Greenberg Traurig LLP, which was representing West in a lawsuit filed against him by Ultra Music Publishing over allegations ‘Flowers’ sampled Marshall Jefferson track ‘Move Your Body’ without licence.The court overseeing the sample case granted Greenberg Traurig’s motion to withdraw from the sample litigation at the end of November, but also ordered the law firm to personally serve West with a ‘withdrawal order’ that stated they are no longer representing him in the case.However, the lawyers have been struggling to locate West in order to serve that order. They previously asked the court if they could do the serving via text message.

C.J. Harris, a Top 6 contestant on American Idol in 2014, died Sunday of a reported heart attack in his hometown of Jasper, Alabama. He was 31.

EXCLUSIVE: Briarcliff Entertainment has acquired North American rights to The Hill, an inspirational true life sports drama starring Dennis Quaid, scripted by Angelo Pizzo & Scott Marshall Smith and directed by Jeff Celentano. Quaid starred in one of the most successful fact based sports films in recent memory with The Rookie, and Pizzo wrote two of the best true sports films in Rudy and Hoosiers. Celentano helmed Gunshy and Breaking Point.                                 

Michael Keaton, James Marsden, Marcia Gay Harden, Suzy Nakamura, Joanna Kulig, Ray McKinnon, John Hoogenakker, Lela Loren and Al Pacino are starring in the noir thriller Knox Goes Away, which Keaton is directing. Principal photography recently wrapped on the project.
