Jem Aswad Executive Editor, Music Ozzy Osbourne has pulled out of the Power Trip festival — the all-hard-rock festival featuring Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, AC/DC, Tool and Iron Maiden, organized by Coachella founders Goldenvoice — for health reasons, the 74-year-old singer announced on Monday. The festival is scheduled to take place Oct. 6-8 in Coachella’s home base of the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, Calif. “As painful as this is, I’ve had to make the decision to bow out of performing on Power Trip in October,” Osbourne, who has suffered from a number of health ailments in recent years, wrote on Monday. “My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward. Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed.

McKinley Franklin editor The Coachella livestream on YouTube is the next-best thing to being there, and in some ways it’s even better: There’s no crowds, travel, heat or dust unless you want them, and you’ve got the best seat in the house. This Friday, the 22nd edition of Coachella will kick off with the first of two weekends at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif. With fans anticipating a star-studded list of headliners like Bad Bunny, Blackpink and Frank Ocean, this year’s festival is the first that notably consists of a lineup of over 50% international artists. As in other recent years, Coachella 2023 will be available to stream online via its official YouTube channel on the first weekend — and the good news is that this marks the full time the second weekend will also have just an extensive slate of streaming instead of just select highlights. Livestreams are accessible on desktop, mobile or the YouTube app via Coachella’s official YouTube page. For the first time, six of the stages from the festival — instead of the usual three — will be accessible for streaming, starting April 14 at 4 p.m. PT (and continuing on April 21 at the same time for the festival’s second weekend). Following each day of festivities, Coachella’s YouTube will rerun video performances from the day prior.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic Amazon has come on board this month’s Stagecoach Festival in California to provide a livestream of the country music gathering. Live action from the April 28-30 festival in Indio will be streamed on both Prime Video and Amazon Music’s Twitch channel. It marks the second year that the festival will be extensively streamed, albeit the first involving Amazon. In 2022, Stagecoach livestreamed most of the main attractions on its own YouTube channel. In some years prior to that, Yahoo had had exclusive rights to stream select artists’ sets. Coverage from the festival will begin at 3 p.m. each of the festival’s three days. Stagecoach and Amazon did not immediately reveal how many or which sets will be streamed from the festival; a press release promised that performances from the Mane Stage will be seen.

Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor As expected, a new hard rock festival called Power Trip, from the founders of Coachella, has announced its lineup: Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Tool. It will take place at Coachella’s home base of the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, Calif., Oct.

Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor While an official announcement is not expected until later in the week, multiple sources tell Variety that Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Tool and Iron Maiden headline a new festival called Power Trip from Coachella founders Goldenvoice. The sources say the festival will take place at Coachella’s home base, Empire Polo Field in Indio, Calif., in October. The news was previously reported by Hits, Desert Sun and the music blog the Scenestar, and a remarkably unsubtle teaser campaign apparently from the organizers. Despite the Coachella connection, the festival is more like a hard rock version of Goldenvoice’s 2016 Desert Trip festival, which featured a classic-rock dream team of Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, the Who and Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters.

It’s almost time to pull out your cowboy boots and fringed denim jackets. Stagecoach 2023, the annual country music festival, returns to its home at the Empire Polo Club grounds in Indio, Calif. from Apr. 28-30. While there are still weekend passes available on the Stagecoach website, you might actually find more affordable tickets on resale sites such as Vividseats. This year’s star-studded lineup features an impressive mix of country, rock and pop stars. Luke Bryan, Kane Brown and Chris Stapleton are headlining the three-day festival, while other bold-faced performers include Jon Pardi, Brooks & Dunn, Old Dominion, ZZ Top and Lainey Wilson. In addition to Bryan, who makes his fourth headlining appearance at this year’s fest, other returnees include EDM artist Diplo, who this year is curating the DJ sets in the dance hall, and celebrity foodie Guy Fieri, whose smokehouse sessions with artists on the bill are a top draw.
Anna Tingley If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Variety may receive an affiliate commission. Coachella is almost here. The three-day music festival, which will celebrate its 24th anniversary this year, will return to its home at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, Calif., on the weekends of April 14-16 and April 21-23. Although tickets immediately sold out for Weekend 1 when they first went on sale in January, there are still several ways to snag passes elsewhere online. In fact, tickets actually appear to be selling for significantly less money on resale sites compared to Coachella’s website (which currently has a waitlist for Weekend 1 and limited number of remaining tickets for Weekend 2). Vivid Seats is selling thee-day GA passes for $500, compared to $549 on Coachella’s website.
Carrie Underwood. The country superstar — whose powerhouse pipes have led her to win eight Grammys, including six for vocal performance — is not a fan of singers who can’t deliver the goods when they do their recordings live.“Growing up and going to concerts or seeing my favorite artists on TV, if they didn’t sound like they were supposed to sound, it was always so deflating. I’d lose respect for them,” Underwood, 39, told Rolling Stone. “Or when I’d go to a concert and hear them drop keys, I was like, ‘You can’t hit the notes! Why’d you record them if you can’t sing them?’ That stuff is important to me.”Indeed, when Underwood goes from the studio to the stage, she has had no problem bringing her recordings to life with her prized instrument that won her the American Idol title in 2005 (back when people still cared about “American Idol”).“I love to sing, and I’ve always taken pride in the work I’ve put in on my vocals,” she said.
