Madonna asks court to dismiss lawsuit over late concert start times

Madonna’s lawyers have asked the court to dismiss the lawsuit filed against her on the grounds of late concert start times. In January, Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden, two fans who bought tickets to the December 13 date of Madonna’s ‘Celebration’ tour at the Barclays Center, filed a lawsuit against Madonna for starting the concert more than two hours past the stipulated 8:30PM start time. The lawsuit accused her of not only breaching contracts with ticket buyers, but also of “false advertising, negligent representation, and unfair and deceptive trade practices”.In the new filing, Madonna’s representatives have written: “Plaintiffs speculate that ticketholders who left the venue after 1am might have had trouble getting a ride home or might have needed to wake up early the next day for work. That is not a cognizable injury.”The motion also states that one of the plaintiffs, Jonathan Hadden, “raved” about the show in a social media post, calling it “incredible as always!”In response to the original suit, Madonna’s representatives and Live Nation issued a joint statement, expressing their intentions to “defend this case vigorously”.

Smaller Films Hit April Doldrums – Specialty Box Office

This weekend was the first in some time without a specialty film in the top ten as wide releases ramp up from Civil War to Abigail and hang in theaters as per Kung Fu Panda 4 and Dune: Part Two — in weeks 7 and 8, respectively. One distributor calls late April a bit of a dumping ground for indies – no judgement on the films but in the sense that there are a bunch of them and they can sometimes struggle to find audiences — calling this an anomalous weekend after a spring dotted with breakout titles. IFC’s Late Night With The Devil ($9.7 million cume); A24’s Love Lives Bleeding ($7.8 million); Bleecker Street’s One Life ($4.5 million); Sony Pictures Classics’ Wicked Little Letters ($3.6 million) all did great and indies overall are taking bigger swings – with Civil War (A24) one of the biggest.

‘Sting’ Review: A Giant Spider Grows in Brooklyn in a Knowingly Cheeseball Indie Horror Trifle

Owen Gleiberman Chief Film Critic In “Sting,” a giant-spider-grows-in-Brooklyn thriller that’s cheeky, bloody, and (most important) very gooey, Sting is the name given by Charlotte (Alyla Browne), a precocious tween, to the elegant two-inch-long black spider that becomes her pet (she keeps it in a jar and feeds it bugs). Yet given how much slaughter is caused by this omnivorous arachnid, which grows bigger and bigger with each feeding, the moniker turns out to be a major understatement.

Brooklyn photographer reveals wild A-lister stories — like that time Beyoncé canceled for a dentist appointment

Internationally renowned Israeli-born photographer Rafael Fuchs has always used his art to push boundaries and highlight the absurdities of modern life — even during wartime.Called to serve in Lebanon in 1983 while he was still an art student at Jerusalem’s prestigious Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design brought his avant-garde style to the battlefield.“I started taking picture showing how ridiculous war is,” Fuchs told The Post in Brooklyn on Wednesday.Fuchs began subverting the war photography genre by taking a series of self-portraits, in typical battle scenes, donned in Japanese Butoh-inspired theatrical makeup to highlight his anxiety about serving.“Where does it say in the Israeli army rule book that a soldier cannot perform his duties with makeup on?” Fuchs had asked his then-commanding officer.Following graduation and a stint in Paris where he was noticed by the eminent curator Francois Hebel, Fuchs emigrated to New York, where he was immediately enchanted by the city’s “spontaneity.”“It was hot. It was May 1st.
