‘Tulsa King’ Costume Designer Pulled Inspiration From John Gotti and ‘Guys and Dolls’ for Sylvester Stallone’s Look

Matthew Chernov From Al Pacino’s white suit in “Scarface” and Robert De Niro’s tortoiseshell sunglasses in “Casino” to James Gandolfini’s bowling shirts in “The Sopranos” and Steve Buscemi’s Derby hats in “Boardwalk Empire,” movie and TV gangsters are famous for their bold fashion sense. And the latest nattily dressed mobster to hit the screen is Dwight Manfredi, the Mafia capo played by Sylvester Stallone in the Paramount+ series “Tulsa King.” Created by Taylor Sheridan, the show stars Stallone as an aging mafioso who’s exiled to Tulsa, Okla., by his New York crime family after spending 25 years in prison. Costume designer Suzanne McCabe created Stallone’s wardrobe on the series, and she based many of her designs on the real-life Mafia bosses whose taste in expensive clothing and flashy accessories made them unlikely celebrities throughout the 1980s. “I looked at the Gambino crime family, the Franzese family, and all the usual ones that you always saw in the papers back then,” she says.

Ali Velshi Faces Pushback From John Kasich After Calling Florida and Texas ‘Horrible Places to Live’ (Video)

MSNBC host Ali Velshi and former Republican governor John Kasich got into a verbal pushing match Sunday while debating the proposed budget deal and if the wealthy should pay more in taxes. The end result: an all-out squabble after Velshi said Florida and Texas are “horrible places to live.”While Kasich pointed out how high taxes in states like New York are leading many to flock to “fastest growing states” like Florida and Texas, Velshi interjected to push back on the apparent quality of life in the red states.“Low taxes, Governor, but horrible places to live in terms of gun violence, in terms of being able to get an abortion, in case you’re gay, in case you want to go to the library and get a book,” Velshi said.

‘Kill Bill’ Will Get Remastered 4K Edition for 20th Anniversary

Brent Lang Executive Editor The Bride is back. Lionsgate said it is releasing a new and remastered 4K edition of “Kill Bill” to coincide with the Quentin Tarantino film’s 20th anniversary at the end of the year. No word yet on what kind of extras and added footage that version may or may not include. But it does come as Lionsgate announced on its quarterly earnings call that it has landed distribution rights to both “Kill Bill” films and “Jackie Brown.” That gives the company the largest portfolio of Tarantino movies. Lionsgate also has the rights to “Reservoir Dogs,” “Inglourious Basterds,” “Django Unchained,” “The Hateful Eight” and “Death Proof.” Most of those movies were initially released by The Weinstein Company or Miramax. Some of those movies later became available after the Weinstein Company went bankrupt after its founder Harvey Weinstein was accused by dozens of women of sexual abuse, harassment and assault.
