It's famously one of the most gruelling celebrity shows on TV, but Krishnan Guru-Murthy has admitted to being worried he has bitten off more than he can chew with Strictly Come Dancing.
The journalist has said his biggest worry is being physically unable to do the dances as he has "never exercised" and is "overweight" and suffers from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, although the prospect of stepping into the ballroom has helped him to keep off some weight he lost earlier in the year. While he might not be expecting to compete with the likes of Layton Williams and Bobby Brazier, Krishnan, 53, explained why the time was finally right for him to do Strictly after it being a "hard no" in the past.
He also opened up on why Ed Balls and Bill Bailey are his inspirations, as he prepares to make his Strictly debut. Hi Krishnan! What do you think will be the biggest challenge for you in Strictly? Everything about it is a big challenge.
The biggest thing I am scared of, is physically not being able to do this.
I am not a fit person and I have never exercised really. I am overweight and I have got loads of things wrong me, so that’s been my biggest worry about whether I can actually physically do it.
Then of course, there is the basic question of, can I dance? and I don’t know the answer to that, I will find out! How are you preparing for the show? To say preparing would be a massive overstatement of the truth.
I have done ten days of Pilates. I have lost a lot of weight earlier this year, I went on this massive health kick in April/May and I lost about eleven kilos and so I am sure that under normal circumstances I would have put most of it back on.
