Manchester City are poised to welcome back Mateo Kovacic for the Carabao Cup third-round tie with Newcastle United at St James' Park on Wednesday night (8pm).
Kovacic, 29, has been missing for the last two games, with a muscular problem. However, the ex-Chelsea player is now expected to be involved against the Magpies.
