Parasyte, helmed by Train to Busan and Hellbound director Yeon Sang-ho, is currently in the works at Netflix.Titled Parasyte: The Grey, the adaptation of the manga series is set in a world where humans wage war against unidentified parasitic life-forms. The series will be produced by Wow Point and Climax Studio, the production company behind Hellbound and 2021 military procedural D.P., according to The Hollywood Reporter.A separate report by Deadline adds that Jeon So-nee (When My Love Blooms) is set to star as Jeong Su-in, who begins to co-exist with a parasite that fails to completely take over her brain.
She will be joined by Koo Kyo-hwan (D.P.) as Seol Kang-woo, a man tracking down parasites in order to find his missing sister.Lee Jung-hyun (The Admiral: Roaring Currents) is also set to join the main cast as Choi Jun-kyung, the leader of a task force battling parasites.Parasyte: The Grey will be available for streaming worldwide on Netflix, though a release date for the series has yet to be announced.In other K-drama news, ABC has ordered a new series titled The Company You Keep, based on the 2019 Korean drama My Fellow Citizens!. The series will be executive-produced by This Is Us actor Milo Ventimiglia, who will also star in the series alongside Catherine Haena Kim.

Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large Comedian Hasan Minhaj is returning to Netflix next month with his latest standup special. “Hasan Minhaj: The King’s Jester” is set to premiere worldwide on Oct. 4 on Netflix. “The King’s Jester” reps the second stand-up comedy special that Minhaj has produced and starred in for Netflix. The latest special, filmed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, features Hasan discussing some of his recent life events. Netflix reports that in the special, Minhaj “shares his thoughts on fertility, fatherhood, and freedom of speech.” Prashanth Venkataramanujam directed “Hasan Minhaj: The King’s Jester.” Minhaj’s previous stand-up comedy special was titled “Homecoming King,” which aired in 2018 and garnered him a Peabody Award.

A leaked video showing the boy as a victim of police brutality goes viral and ignites an all-out war in an imaginary community called Athena. It’s the first French movie that Netflix is presenting in competition at the Venice Film Festival. “Athena” tells the story of the boy’s three siblings, who are responding to the tragedy in different ways. French star Dali Benssalah (“Les Sauvages,” “No Time to Die”) plays the older brother, Abdel, a French soldier. Faced with an impossible moral dilemma, Abdel is called back from the frontline to help diffuse the all-out war that has been sparked by his younger brother Karim (Sami Slimane), who wants revenge. Athena becomes the backdrop of a tragedy for both the family and its entire community. The film’s stellar cast also includes Ouassini Embarek, Anthony Bajon and Alexis Manenti.
